Lesson 2: Accessing Apocrita

You can log into Apocrita from any network (internal to QMUL, over eduroam, or from other sites over the Internet) using ssh. More detail is provided on the logging in page on our documentation site.

Enter the following command (replacing 'USERNAME' with your ITS Research account username):

[learner ~]$ ssh USERNAME@login.hpc.qmul.ac.uk

Note

Linux does not display passwords as they are typed.

Once you are logged into Apocrita, you should see the welcome message and a prompt similar to the following:

[USERNAME@login-01 ~]$

Setting up SSH Keys

For security, we require using SSH keys to access your account in addition to a password. For details on how to set this up please visit our setting up SSH keys page.
